The decoder needs JavaScript

It reads the VIN against the federal vPIC database in your browser, so there is nothing to show without it. Everything else on this site works fine without JavaScript — including listing a vehicle, where you can give us the VIN and we will decode it ourselves.

What comes back

The federal database returns what the manufacturer filed: identity, engine and drivetrain, safety equipment, and where it was built. Where we have the engine indexed, you also get its displacement, bore and stroke, compression and the other vehicles it went into.
