Sell a luxury carthe repair quote just wrote off.

Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Lexus, Jaguar, Land Rover, Genesis. Particularly the ones that have fallen off the warranty cliff and been handed a repair estimate that costs more than the car is worth.

What decides the number

01

Remaining warranty is the biggest single number

Factory or certified warranty still running, and transferable, is worth more than almost anything else about the car. The day it expires the same vehicle is worth materially less, because every expensive failure moves from the manufacturer’s problem to the owner’s. If there is cover left, tell us how long.

02

Which expensive system has failed

Air suspension, adaptive dampers, the infotainment head unit, a transfer case, a mechatronic unit. These are the failures that produce a four-figure quote on a car worth five, and they are precisely why this page exists — a car in that position is not a write-off to us.

03

Where it was serviced, and whether there is a record

A franchised-dealer history is worth real money on a German car and the difference narrows the older it gets. An independent specialist with proper records is close behind. Nothing at all is what hurts.

04

The options nobody credits on paper

Adaptive matrix headlights, premium audio, night vision, rear entertainment. They add little to a book valuation and a great deal to what the car is worth broken up, because every one of those is a part somebody is hunting for at four in the morning.

05

Electronics and modules that are already flagging

A dash full of warnings does not have to be fixed before you talk to us, but it does need describing. Pull the codes if you can. A car with three known faults is easier to price than a car with "some electrical issues".

Have this ready

  • Warranty status and expiry, and whether it transfers
  • The repair quote, if you have one — it is useful, not embarrassing
  • Fault codes if you can read them, or the warning lights that are lit
  • Service history and where it was done
  • Which options it actually has — the build sheet if you can find it

Whole, or in parts?

This is the category where parting out most often beats selling whole, and it is worth understanding why. Depreciation on a luxury car is steep while the cost of its individual parts stays high — so a ten-year-old car worth very little as a car is still carrying several thousand dollars of components that fit a fleet of newer cars people are actively repairing.

  • Headlight units, especially adaptive and matrix — often the single most valuable part on the car
  • Infotainment head units, screens and control modules
  • Seats, particularly heated, cooled or massaging
  • Air suspension components, and the compressor that failed on yours

Questions we get about luxury cars

It needs a repair that costs more than the car. Still interested?

That is the most common call on this page. A car facing a bill bigger than its value is not worthless — it is a car whose parts are worth more than the sum somebody quoted you to fix it. That gap is exactly what we deal in.

Do you buy non-runners?

Yes. A car that will not start because of a module, a transmission or an electrical fault is straightforward to us. Say what it does and does not do — cranks but will not fire, no dash at all, goes into limp mode — because those describe very different repairs.

The infotainment is dead and the dealer wants thousands.

Extremely common on this generation of cars, and the reason head units are among the parts we are most often asked for. It does not need fixing before you sell it.

Is it worth fixing before selling?

Usually not. Paying retail for a repair and then selling the car rarely returns what the repair cost — you are buying the part at the worst price and selling it at the best. Sell it as it stands and let the number reflect the fault.

Tell us what you have. One form, a person reads it, and we come back either way.
